New Commonwealth study shows U.S.last in efficiency and quality

This study compares Australia,Canada,Germany,Netherlands,New Zealand,U.K., and the U.S. on 5 dimensions of a high performance health system:quality, access, efficiency, equity, and healthy lives. The U.S. is last on most parameters.

The U.S. is clearly lagging behind many places in the world on a number of indicators. It's more evidence that care delivery change is going to need to be radical rather than incremental. This study outlines where we need to focus to improve.

The question is not that we need to change but how we actually do it. This is the purpose behind our  book On the Mend www.onthemendbook.com and why we created the Healthcare value Leaders Network www.hcvl.org  In addition,we have CEO and senior executive team site visits http://www.createhealthcarevalue.com/resources/products/ and one day general visits to Thedacare that can to teach people the how to of lean healthcare. We all need to get serious about improvement if we are going to move the U.S. to no.1 from last.
